About Power Planner
The application was developed by a college student over eight years ago. Yet, he continues to improve the planner and informs its users of new updates through the app’s Facebook page. Power Planner is completely free to download and use; there are no subscriptions! The planner includes: a calendar that syncs almost instantaneously with Google Calendar if you choose to do so, unlimited number of color coded classes which can be formatted to be repeated certain dates and times, and a tasks page to add assignments with their due date. All of the information can be seen at once on the calendar page with all assignments, class times, events, and holidays.
Power Planner not only syncs with your phone, but with your other devices as well. You can sync across your iPhone, iPad, and computer (using their website). Do not fret if you are not an Apple person; the planner is also available on Windows10 and Android with the same syncing capabilities. To sync your devices, you only need to create a free account.
Premium version
The app also offers a premium version which includes unlimited semesters, unlimited repeating tasks and events, and unlimited grade inputs. It is only a one-time purchase of $1.99. Personally, I do not think the premium version is necessary, because once you finish a semester just change the classes with the new semester. I also do not plan on using their grade calculator since my school’s portal, Canvas, already offers this feature. The same goes with repeating events: I do not need them. However, you might need to use these features. For this reason, I still think the price tag of $1.99 is minimal compared to a Todoist or Notion subscription.
Does it stack up to other apps - Notion, Google Keep, Todoist, etc.?
I definitely think it does. I mean, Notion does not even have a Google Calendar integration. Todoist, if you want to use all its features, in my eyes, is extremely expensive for a simple to-do list app that does not keep your schedule in mind. In regards to Google Keep, if you wanted to add tasks and quickly check your calendar with the new changes, you would have to switch between apps on your phone; not an issue with Power Planner’s mobile application.
To close...
Give the application a go. It is a free app that take little time to set up. I do not think that you will be disappointed, and I am eager to use the application more frequently and provide more feedback. If you have any questions or suggestions for future blog posts, leave them in the comments. See you in the comments!
